Checklist
Credit card setup checklist
Use this when you open a new card or want to tidy an old setup. It is about keeping payments on time, spotting problems early and not letting a card drift into debt. It does not pick a card for you and it contains no rates or fees, because those differ by issuer and change over time.
Your ticks are saved only in this browser, on this device. Nothing is sent anywhere. Clear them whenever you want to start over.
How to use this
Work through the groups in order the first time, then use only the yearly group afterward. Autopay is a safety net, not a substitute for looking at your statements. If the linked account runs short, the payment can fail, so check the balance on the days around your due date. If a charge looks wrong, contact the issuer using the number on the card and ask about its dispute process.
Limits
This is a general habit checklist, not financial advice. It cannot tell you which card suits you or whether you can afford a balance. If you are falling behind on card payments, a nonprofit credit counseling agency can talk through your options.
Where this comes from
The items are common habits that match the general direction of consumer guidance from US agencies such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission. We did not verify each item against a single source, and this is a research-based reference, not tested advice. Which alerts or security options exist depends on your issuer.
